Matty Higgins becomes the Fish North 2023 champion picking up the trophy and a cool £12,000.

2023 Saw a brand new winner once again of the Fish North event at Forest Lane Fisheries, held on the MKM Arena Lake. Conditions were not so favourable from all our previous years, with a biting cold strong wind for most of the day, albeit the rain did keep off, but still, the fishing was fantastic with 100lb + weights throughout all the finalists.

It fished better than the previous year, with it not tailing off so quick, but the fishing did slow down, but Matty Higgins, just kept on catching and fished a fantastic match. Matty drew peg 7 and after catching well throughout the early stages, managed to keep ticking over until the end to finish with a weight of 230lb 14oz.

Second place went to young Rob Swan over on peg 11, who had a lovely match and caught some nice stamp fish to finish with 214lb 8oz. The third spot went to a new finalist for 2023, Kristian Jones, who had a great first half of the match but could not catch enough towards the later stages, but still came away with 208lb 9oz.

  3. 3rd Kristian Jones – Peg 25 – 208lb 9oz
